Sparkistan – The Unsung Heroes of Pakistan

Let’s talk about Them for a while! Who are they? What do they do? And most importantly why do they do?
Where there are many people out in the world who are living their lives for others, making a lifetime achievement and raising their living standards by helping other. There are also some people who are differently-able for their abilities, leaving a remarkable example behind for those people who do not take life as a blessing from Allah.

Pakistan, a country which is filled with immense talent which, unfortunately, is overlooked or people are unknown. Sparkistan – an initiative taken by Atlas Battery to show the Spark of our unsung heroes.

Meet Nazir Sabir – ” The Mountaineer who summited Mount Everest and K2.”

Your only limit is you, forget the fears and make the impossible to happen and The real hero is the man who fights even though he is scared and voluntarily walks into the unknown. What would you do if you weren’t afraid? I would conquer my fears and climb at the top of this world and What could be more spiritual than lifting your Flag at the top of the world? Heroes like Nazir Sabir deserve much more honor!

Nazir Sabir is a Pakistani mountaineer. He was born in Hunza. He has climbed Mount Everest and four of the five 8000 m peaks in Pakistan, including the world’s second highest mountain K2 in 1981, Gasherbrum II 8035m Broad Peak 8050m in 1982, and Gasherbrum I (Hidden Peak) 8068m in 1992.

He became the first from Pakistan to have climbed Everest on 17 May 2000 as a team member on the Mountain Madness Everest Expedition led by Christine Boskoff from the USA that also included famed Everest climber Peter Habeler of Austria and eight Canadians.

Aneeqa Bano & Afzal Rasool – ” Giving Hope and Shelter to deaf children in Gilgit-Baltistan.”

Their mission is to raise the living standard of deaf people through education and skills. Changing the mindset of people from viewing deaf as a burden to an asset for the community.

Narjis Khatoon Hearing Impairment School is a Project of Narjis Khatoon Health and Education Welfare Foundation Skardu. This is an NGO, focused on working for the deaf particularly and the special children as well. This is the first organization in this area committed to working for the development of deaf people. The people of this area are very poor but very enthusiastic.

Azima Haider Zaidi – An ambitious role model for those who lose hope.”

A 21-year-old girl with a physical disability who makes use of prosthetic limbs; she’s a great inspiration and an artist. Besides her disability, she took her life, not as a challenge but a blessing from God. True, life can be very tough sometimes but when we start being thankful for all we possess, our sorrows lighten a bit.

She said: “I observe other people who’re living in more harsh and unprivileged conditions than I do, and that actually makes me feel a whole lot better. To me, my family, friends and all those who’ve helped me in some way are closest to my heart. I am and will always be appreciative towards them!” Besides that, she’s interested in arts. She always included variety in her artwork and by the passage of time she’s continuously improving it. She uses several mediums to portrays her art like crayons, markers, pencils, pastels etc.
Her biggest achievement: She was selected as a YES (Youth Exchange and Study) exchange student and got a lifetime opportunity to travel to U.S and exchange my culture like an active Pakistani ambassador.

Atlas Battery is showcasing the story the story of 15 Heroes, with 6 heroes revealed and 9 are yet to be highlighted. Atlas Battery took a step ahead to give prominence to our Sparkling Heroes.
